Effective August 1, 2007, each JELC family shall be responsible for 3 parent hours each week.
Parent will spend JELC work time performing parent hours. Weekly parent hours will be scheduled by the Director on a semester basis. Scheduling preferences will be taken into account whenever possible. A maximum of two of these three hours per week may be "bought out" in advance on a semester basis at a cost of $15.00 per hour, to be paid as a part of Parent's monthly tuition. Each family is responsible for working one parent hour per week at JELC, even if some portion of the remaining hours are "bought out".
Parent hour responsibilities may include assisting the teachers with child-related tasks and/or performing daily tasks and special projects that are necessary for JELC to provide a sanitary environment for our children and to run efficiently.
Examples of tasks include monitoring of children in the classroom or on the playground, setting up/cleaning up art projects, setting up classrooms with new toys/activities, sweeping floors, vacuuming, bleaching toys, cleaning the kitchen, and removing of trash.
JELC staff will provide task sheets or other direction to parents for completion of parent hour assignments.
